FIGHTING THE WHITEFLY

Work Completed ... For Now?

(Above, workers ready their vehicles in the battle against whitefly on View Street.)

Our struggle against the whitefly -- the first round, at least -- has ended. The infestation of spiral whitefly has devastated parts of Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties.

We hope we caught it in time on View Street.
Both our neighboring condominiums have been treating the problem, too.

The Palm Beach-Broward Landscaping firm sprayed leaves and treated the root systems of most of the plants on View Street on August 22.

Residents are asked to keep a sharp eye out to see if the treatments are effective. Gumbo-Limbo and Palms are especially inviting to the alien critters. We may have to treat again in six months or more.

(Below, hundreds of gallons of chemicals were brought in to be used in the fight against the lethal pest.
